What is Happiness?
As a Spiritual Consultant and Psychic Medium, I have come to understand that happiness is a desired state of being—one that is created by choice. If happiness is something you seek, then it is available to you. The challenge lies in recognizing when we are living in a different state and asking ourselves the deeper questions: What is happening within me to create a sense of lack or misdirection? Through this self-inquiry, we can begin to shift our perception and embrace happiness fully.
Happiness is often influenced by external circumstances, but our perception of these circumstances plays a significant role. When we focus on scarcity, fear, or limitations, we reinforce a mindset of lack. However, when we focus on gratitude, strengths, and possibilities, we open the door to greater fulfillment. By shifting our awareness to what we can create rather than what we feel is missing, we align ourselves with a more positive and empowered way of living.
True happiness consists of two key components:
1. The Balance of Emotions — Happiness is linked to experiencing more positive emotions than negative ones. While challenges are inevitable, cultivating a mindset that leans toward optimism helps create stability and well-being.
2. Life Satisfaction — This relates to feeling content with different areas of life, including relationships, work, and personal achievements. When we align our actions with our values and purpose, we create a deeper sense of fulfillment.
Happiness is not a static state but a journey of awareness, intention, and action. It is not solely about achieving external goals but also about cultivating inner peace, resilience, and joy.
And the secret to lasting happiness? Finding joy.
Joy is a feeling—a deep sense of pleasure, satisfaction, and connection. Unlike fleeting happiness, which often depends on external conditions, joy arises from within. It strengthens relationships, fosters connections, reduces stress, and even supports physical well-being. Joy aligns with our core values and enhances our appreciation for the present moment.
Happiness may seem complex, influenced by countless factors, making it feel out of reach at times. However, joy is always available. It is found in moments of gratitude, laughter, and connection. The Serenity Prayer serves as a powerful reminder:
God, grant me the serenityTo accept the things I cannot change;Courage to change the things I can;And wisdom to know the difference.
For those who may feel uncomfortable with the word "God," the message remains the same. With practice, we can choose how we feel, what we allow into our lives, and how we respond to change. Sometimes, difficult circumstances push us toward transformation, guiding us toward better choices. Change is not easy, nor does it happen without effort, but recognizing that we all deserve happiness is the first step. The next step is actively moving in that direction.
